John's Finished!

Take Evasive Action! Holy crud this card is really good!
PIVOT!!!
Take Evasive is more interesting about what fleets it SHOULDN'T be with.  CR90 spam is out, as are Arquiten spam lists.  But it helps the Navigational ability intensely of a lot of early wave ships.  Assault Frigates, Nebulons, Victories, speed 2 or 4 MC30s, EVERY LARGE BASE SHIP in the game.  It's a Madine effect without Madine, and it's very much worth building around.  I can VERY much see this on a Cymoon/Chimaera led Imperial fleet doing some handbrake turns to get around the battlefield in a LOT scarier way than you ever thought possible.  Because a more maneuverable Demolisher isn't ALREADY terrifying....  Of super special fun note: Jerjerrod and a Super Star Destroyer's navigate command and this DOES let you do a full 90 degree turn with it.  So.... that's my new nightmare.

As for the Rebels, I like the idea of it on a Pelta, helping out an Assault Frigate and Nebulon, maybe a Hammerhead or two? Maybe a large base? I'm not specifically NOT using a CR90 with it, but it's a very interesting concept, freeing me from automatically stapling a CR90 into things.  LMC80s getting more turning ability have never complained, that's for sure.

Fun fact: this combines super great with Engine Techs, as you're making a speed 1 move there.  It triggers on that speed 1 movement AND your regular movement as well.  Have fun with THAT!

  1. Madine, dial+token, TEA, would allow a LMC80 to have 2 clicks at speed 3? For fun!
Thanks for all the new articles!

    1. Yep, Madine dial+token+TEA with an Engine Techs Liberty is speed 3+1 with MAXIMUM CLICKS ON EVERY JOINT. Yikes.

  2. I think you're partially wrong on ET synergy, as it would help only if your regular move was also speed 1.

    1. I'd like to see an FAQ on it. "Current speed" can mean "speed on your dial" as well as "speed of your maneuver" and it's confusing. I wish we had some better terminology in Armada to differentiate these types of things.

  3. Current speed is defined as speed on the dial (RRG p.11)

    1. On that page, it is defined as the speed on the dial, but we are also instructed when Determining Course and figuring out our yaw to move the ship at its current speed and to use yaw for the current speed and clearly this is disregarded when getting an additional move with Engine Techs where in that case the "current speed" is the speed specified by Engine Techs.

    2. FAQ p.7: "When an effect instructs a ship to execute a maneuver outside of its usual Execute Maneuver step, what is that ship’s speed? A: While executing that additional maneuver, the ship’s speed is temporarily set to the speed indicated by the effect that is resolved. The ship executes the maneuver by completing the Determine Course and Move Ship steps. The ship’s current speed is still tracked by its speed dial, and the ship does not count as having changed its speed." Therefore ET executes speed 1 maneuver while the current speed of the ship is still the speed on the dial (i.e. may be different from 1) and therefore TEA won't affect ET move.
