Merry Shipsmas!

Revisiting the 'Star Wars Holiday Special:' A Disturbing Galaxy, Not Far Enough Away | | Observer

As you can probably tell, all of our Clone Wars content went live this morning. We're still working on getting everything added to the indices but that should be done within an hour or so of this post. We've got lots of work yet to do but the Clone Wars stuff is up! There's over 20 new articles so keep scrolling ;).

Separatist squadron review: Droid Tri-Fighters

Hot off the heels of the TIE-Fighter-cousin Vulture Droids, let's talk about the kind-of-a-TIE-Interceptor, the Droid Tri-Fighter Squadron.

Also enjoy this sweet rotating gif of said tri-fighter.

Separatist squadron review: Hyena-class Droid Bombers

Separatist squads sure are good at shooting other squads, but where's the anti-ship boom? Here. Here's the anti-ship boom.

There's a Star Wars bad guy bomber thing where they bring their bombs to battles in baby bjorns.

Separatist squadron review: Belbullab-22 Starfighters

Probably the most unique squadron available to the Separatists is the intriguing Belbullab-22 Heavy Starfighter. It doesn't really behave entirely like much of anything else in the game, which is a refreshing change for the Separatists given how much their droid fighters crib from their Imperial counterparts.

Plus it looks cool, although kind of like a weird fanged race car too?

Republic Squadrons - Y-Wing

The Republic squadron madness continues! Old school cool meets new school design work, it's the BTL-B Y-wing!

I grabbed what pictures I could for these, so I'm on this adventure just like you!

Republic Squadrons - Deltas and Jedi

The fanciest and most expensive squadrons in the GAR to start, the Delta provides the first available way to get dedicated Force powers onto the table.  Let's see what they can do!

I'm sure I won't be referencing this as a painting guide repeatedly...

GAR squad groups

I feel I should pair the original squadron articles with a longer one or two for the GAR squadron groups.  Everything in this article is highly speculative until I see it in practice, but feel free to let me know what you find that does or doesn't work for YOU!

I did the finest of 30 second google searches for you people!

Republic Squadrons - V19

It's been a minute since we had to do a new squadron article, huh? Let's hop right in and start talking Torrents!

This is my Torrent, Farr

Republic Squadrons - ARC-170

The strongest Republic squadron at anti-ship attacks, the ARC-170 is a terror to behold.  Behold it with me!

Shown with Delta friend!

Bail Organa

Leon the Professional.  John Wick. John Cusack in Grosse Pointe Blank. Into their ranks.... steps Bail "The Terminator" Organa.

Bail Organa, seen here blending in at a local police station before completing his mission

Obi Wan

I utterly refuse to make a "Hello there" joke, considering every fleet made for the first 6 months of the game for him is going to be named as such.  Expect images and gifs from different Ewan McGregor roles throughout this article, because I am determined to be DIFFERENT.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Obi!

Fleet support article updated for wave 9

Not a huge change, but I added in the two new fleet support upgrades and also changed the Slicer Tools advice (still awaiting the new card image) based on the updated version. I also changed up advice here and there where it previously referred only to flotillas. With the Transport Hardcell and Radiant title Charger able to bring fleet support upgrades, assumptions of these being on flotillas were upended.

Side note #1: did you know an Engine Techs Radiant can move speed 4+1 with Engine Techs and then Slicer Tools you from distance 1-3 away? Rude.

Side note #2: We've got almost two dozen new articles dropping shortly after midnight with all the new Clone Wars stuff so I hope you like reading!

The Resupply upgrades added were:

Incredibly Speculative Thoughts on the 1.5 Changes Article

So THAT was A THING.  Armada is getting updates, it's getting a 1.5, it's time to turn and face the strange ch-ch-changes.  Hit the jump for Eric's and my thoughts on them all!
I'll send the diamond dogs after Pryce, I will

A Semi-Serious Note

We're in Armada blitz now, getting several articles as we lead up to that delicious 12/4 release date for wave 9 and the new Galactic Republic (GAR) and Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS/droids interchangeable for me), but before Eric and I can start writing all those fancy new articles like a dad putting together a bike on Christmas Eve..... I want to bring up something.  No jokes this time, but please hit the jump for details.

2 million page views!

Quick update on a number of relatively minor things.

First of all, we hit 2 million page views yesterday!

Only the finest MS Paint circles and arrows for our readers.

When John and I started Cannot Get Your Ship Out back in January of 2017, we did so at the insistence of my wife (love you, dear) to get all of our advice in one place for our local new players. We are the designated "new guy welcome committee," given we are the most experienced players in our local meta and we were getting a little tired of saying the same thing over and over again when a new wave of players showed up, so why not put it all in a blog we could link to? We figured there might be some interest online as well so hey, let's see what will happen. 3½ years later, 2 million pageviews is success for our little plastic spaceships blog beyond what we could've imagined. Thanks for coming along for the ride.

Secondly, as you've likely noticed, we haven't had many articles lately. We caught up on wave 8 pretty quickly after release and then local play slowed down due to COVID, as I imagine it has for most of you as well. We're still getting the occasional games in at home (while wearing masks because duh), but the pace has definitely slowed down. We're still here. We'll have the occasional Armada article, although right now we're mostly waiting for Clone Wars. I've been considering tacking on a board game reviews section, given John and I play a fair number of those pretty regularly, so we'll see. It wouldn't replace or compete with our Armada content so much as be a secondary thing we do through CGYSO when Armada articles have hit a slow patch, like right now.

Hopefully everyone is doing well!
