Store Championships: Round 2 Ackbar Boogaloo

As a continuation of THIS post, let's talk round 2.  Remember how in my inaugural bit about building my fleet I didn't plan for a massive squadron blob? Welllllll guess what I was playing round two?

I'm hoping he says "3 ship Motti fleet"

So Peter brought THIS list, with a 9 point bid (which he then chose to go first):

Commander: Moff Jerjerrod

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
-  Bomber Command Center  ( 8  points)
= 31 total ship cost

[ flagship ] Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
-  Moff Jerjerrod  ( 23  points)
= 46 total ship cost

Gladiator I-Class Star Destroyer (56 points)
Demolisher  ( 10  points)
-  Ordnance Experts  ( 4  points)
-  Engine Techs  ( 8  points)
-  Assault Proton Torpedoes  ( 5  points)
= 83 total ship cost

Arquitens-class Light Cruiser (54 points)
-  Reinforced Blast Doors  ( 5  points)
-  Dual Turbolaser Turrets  ( 5  points)
= 64 total ship cost

Arquitens-class Light Cruiser (54 points)
-  Dual Turbolaser Turrets  ( 5  points)
= 59 total ship cost

1 JumpMaster 5000 ( 12 points)
1 Colonel Jendon ( 20 points)
1 Tempest Squadron ( 13 points)
1 Major Rhymer ( 16 points)
1 Gamma Squadron ( 10 points)
1 Maarek Steele ( 21 points)
1 TIE Defender Squadron ( 16 points)

He chose Intel Sweep from me, and we deployed as such.
Ugh, go away Maarek Stele! No one likes you!
We deployed as such, with my objective ships hoping to grab the tokens before they could explode.  He ran in FAST with Stele and the other Defender who jumped the poor HWK (on the right of my fighter blob there).  Luckily, he stayed far enough out of range that nothing else was engaged, so I activated the Leia flotilla and moved the 2 VCXs and shuffled the tokens close to me.  The one right near my start I put next to the flotilla, and the one above the asteroid (right under the green ruler) I put where it was going to land.

He kept sending in Rhymer and bomber friends to launch stuff at me, which I didn't like, so my other flotilla activated and grabbed the first token.  Long story short, I grabbed 2 tokens before he was able to kill my flotilla that was grabbing them.  I then spent the rest of the game using my VCX to drag the third one (near me, above the MC30 and MC80 in the above picture) far away from HIS Intel Sweep ship.  If I could keep it away from his ship, my 2 tokens was going to beat the one he had (his second token was deployed off the right side of the picture).

As for my combat ships, he shuffled his rightward/straight, and I moved to intercept.  We ended up meeting at the circled spot in the below picture.
Sorry, I didn't get any pictures, I was busy STAYING ALIVE.
We met near there.  Demo got the jump on the Jaina's Light, but he didn't pull a structural.  He did wipe out 2 sides of shields though, and pulled... something? for the crit? Heck if I remember, sorry.  The front Arquitens ended up moving into range of the MC80 and the MC30, who went medium range Ackbar and did some helpful damage on its shields.  The MC80 ended up firing just out of its front arc, and finished it off with a single ram.

Top of next turn, Demo went.  He threw a front arc at the MC80 and a side arc at the Jaina's Light front.  Ruh roh.... Demo rolled 2 blanks and 2 hits.  Peter rerolled everything... and got the same thing.  Redirect and I'm still alive!  Demo after the move was in the front arc of the MC80, but in an unobstructed side arc of the MC30 at close range.  So the MC30 opened up and blew apart Demo with a lucky structural damage crit.  He put some damage into the 2nd arquitens, and then moved into the asteroids.  Top of the next turn, his Arquitens put a front and side into my MC30, and then rammed it.  Things were not looking good, but I still had a shield? I had the MC30 go, and it opened up on the Arquitens, killing THAT too.  It had a maneuver and tried to get close without ramming the flotilla... but that didn't work.  I rammed it, and then moved back... into ramming the MC80.  Which means not only did I ram myself, but I then landed on the asteroids AGAIN, wiping out even more shields.
Who needed 4 shields, ANYWAYS?
His bombers came in and shot up the MC30, killing it (I had no shields left, thanks to all the shots and the 2 asteroid lands), but I was able to get the Jerry flotilla with the MC80.  I took some good damage, but not enough to kill the MC80.  It was a hard win, and I didn't get tabling points, but it ended up going well for me.  Peter was a great opponent, and it was good to play a game against someone new.
Fancy fancy
I ended the tournament in second place, and I got a fancy alternate art Dodonna that I wanted, so, yay me! My goal was to do well in a tournament with Ackbar before the Quasar comes out and futzes with my plans to NOT run that many squadrons.  I was able to kill a bunch of stuff and I didn't forget my game plan most of the time (stupid asteroids!), which was my main goal here: not overdoing it.
Never forget why you're playing
